Alyssa served as a morning meteorologist for Good Morning Kentucky, Good Day Kentucky, and News at Noon. While working for WTVQ, Alyssa brought her viewers Central Kentucky’s most accurate forecast which is independently rated by WeatheRate. It was a lot of fun coaching a team she used to play for. As a senior at IU, she coached the CG High School cheer squad. You can catch her regular forecasts every Saturday and Sunday night at 6 & 11 p.m. She is always interested in how weather affects the lives of people and she enjoys studying it on an interpersonal level. About a year after graduation, Alyssa continued her education at Mississippi State University for a master’s degree in meteorology. She covered school sports on IUSTV, blogged for ‘We Are IU,’ and was also active in student political organizations. Her favorite board to serve on was Women in Technology. Alyssa remained active in several student organizations all four years at Indiana. For this major, she combined journalism, communications, marketing, and independent study courses. In addition to her telecom degree, Alyssa created a major called ‘Social Media Journalism’ through the Individualized Major Program. You will always hear her cheering for the Mountaineers come football season! On her days off she enjoys spending time with her daughter and husband as well as her Boxer Sammy.She graduated with a Bachelor of Artis degree in Telecommunications with a double emphasis in Industry & Management, and Design & Production. She is a big New England Patriot and Boston Red Sox fan, and In her spare time she enjoys playing poker, blackjack or any other card game. She also enjoys binge-watching shows on Netflix, singing at the top of her lungs or being curled up with a good book. You can catch her Monday-Friday at 5, 6, 10 and 11 PM. She worked for four years on various shifts for 59 news as well as WOWK-TV, WTRF-TV and WBOY-TV before she was offered the title of Chief Meteorologist for WVNS in January of 2019. When an opportunity came up at 59News, Heidi had no second thoughts about taking it. After spending two and a half years in the state, she decided this is where she wanted to have a permanent home. In February of 2013 she was promoted to mornings and by October 2014 she She got her broadcasting start in Oak Hill, West Virginia where she began as a weekend meteorologist/reporter in June of 2012. Heidi is no stranger to Wild and Wonderful West Virginia. In 2011 with a B.S in Atmospheric Sciences with a broadcasting concentration. She decided she wanted to study and predict weather for a living, so she attended award-winning Lyndon State College (now Northern Vermont University) in Lyndonville, VT a school known for having one of the best broadcasting programs in the country.
